WHAT IS AWANA?
What exactly does it mean?
The answers to those questions are in 2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth”.
It is an acronym from this verse: Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed.
AWANA is an annual Christian club for boys and girls, ages 2 years old all the way up to 18 years old, that meets from September through May. The club is broken down into different age groups. Cubbies are 3-5 years olds it is a club for preschoolers before they start Kindergarten. Sparks are for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Truth and Training is for all kids 3rd - 5th grade. Trek is for our middle school kids 6th-8th grade. Journey 24/7 is for the high school kids.
WHAT DOES AWANA DO?
The clubs are broken down into 3 different segments.
Book Time/Small Group Time: A time for clubbers to recite verses and connect with their peers and leaders.
Large Group Time: This is our time when the leaders/directors share Bible stories and or age appropriate lesson plans.
Game Time: We have team building games set for each one of the groups in AWANA. Our games are prepared for each group when they come into the gym or go out to Hagemann park. If you want to hear some noise, come on down and watch our game times. The gym will be rocking.
WHAT MAKES AWANA SPECIAL?
AWANA is a high energy club. We get wild and crazy with some of our themes. Kids are all about energy and movement. They like fun and wacky things that they don’t normally get. We combine fun themes, games, and wild contests to engage the clubbers and encourage them to grow deeper in their faith with Christ.
